Grooming salon insurance

A storefront salon has a fixed space, foot traffic, and a team — a different risk picture than a mobile rig. Here's what salon groomers commonly consider. None of this binds or confirms coverage.

What's different about a salon

When clients come to you, your premises become part of the risk: people moving through the space, a lobby, wet floors, and a shop full of equipment. Add a team and the picture grows again. That's why salon groomers often build coverage around the space, the staff, and the pets in their care — rather than a vehicle.

Coverage salon groomers commonly consider

  • General liability. For a storefront, this is generally associated with the classic scenarios — a client who slips on a wet floor, or property damage to a visitor's belongings. It often excludes injury to the pets you're grooming.
  • Animal bailee / pet floater. Pets are in your care, custody, and control throughout the appointment. This coverage is focused on injury to, or loss of, an animal you're working on.
  • Property / equipment. A salon houses real value — tables, tubs, dryers, and shop contents, plus the space itself for owners. Property / business personal property coverage is generally associated with damage or loss.
  • Workers' compensation. Most salons have staff — groomers, bathers, front-desk help — so workers' comp is generally associated with work-related injuries and is often required once you hire.
  • Cyber liability. Booking software, a POS system, and stored client data create digital exposure that's increasingly relevant for a busy salon.
  • Commercial auto. If the salon also runs a mobile unit or makes pickups, a vehicle used for the business may need commercial auto.
